During our year dedicated to St. Brigid, a year designed to celebrate the 1500th anniversary of her life and ministry the Archdiocese has endeavoured to honour the faith and enduring legacy of this great and holy woman.
Born in this diocese in Faughart Parish in north Co. Louth, St. Brigid embodies important values that transcend generations and as this year dedicated to St. Brigid progresses we become more aware that Her life encapsulated a remarkable blend of spirituality, compassion, and healing power, that touches the core of our faith as we live it today.
As Archbishop Eamon and Bishop Michael stated at the beginning of this special year the aim of this year transcends mere celebration and is about fostering connections between our contemporary world and the everlasting legacy of St. Brigid. Conscious of this and of the many young families living in the Archdiocese who love their faith we have developed a Camino to St. Brigid which invites them to visit Churches dedicated to St. Brigid and the various Holy sites across the Archdiocese of Armagh.
We are sure that If St. Brigid was alive today, she would surely visit these important sites and churches in the Archdiocese of Armagh and so we invite young and old alike to visit the Churches and Religious sites included in this Camino and to use the Prayer Cards and resources developed to accompany the Camino.
We hope that all across the Archdiocese of Armagh enjoy this special Camino and year!
