Twelfth Sunday of Ordinary Time

Children’s Resource

Twelfth Sunday of the Year

Cycle A

21st June 2020

In today’s Gospel from Matthew, Jesus tells us many times “Do Not Be Afraid”.  We do not have to understand everything that Jesus tells us yet.  In God’s own time, we will learn these things.  We are told that God loves us so much that he can even count the number of hairs on our head.  We are also told in the Gospel that if we stand before others and say we believe in Jesus, then Jesus will stand before the Father in Heaven and will say that we are one of His own, that we belong to Jesus.

Say the Sorry Prayer

Oh my God, I thank You for loving me.

I am sorry for all my sins,

for not loving others and not loving You.

Help me to live like Jesus and not sin again.

Amen.

Sing together the Alleluia song
(tune of if you’re happy and you know it clap your hands)

Alleluia, alleluia, praise the Lord,

Alleluia, alleluia, praise the Lord,

As we listen to the story,

Let us praise Him for His glory.

Alleluia, alleluia, praise the Lord.

Let us listen to God’s word.

Matthew 10:26-33 (ICB)

“So, don’t be afraid of those people. Everything that is hidden will be shown. Everything that is secret will be made known.  I tell you these things in the dark, but I want you to tell them in the light. I speak these things only to you, but you should tell them to everyone.  Don’t be afraid of people. They can only kill the body. They cannot kill the soul. The only one you should fear is the One who can destroy the body and the soul in hell. When birds are sold, two small birds cost only a penny. But not even one of the little birds can die without your Father knowing it.  God even knows how many hairs are on your head.  So, don’t be afraid. You are worth much more than many birds.

“If anyone stands before other people and says he believes in me, then I will say that he belongs to me. I will say this before my Father in heaven. But if anyone stands before people and says he does not believe in me, then I will say that he does not belong to me. I will say this before my Father in heaven.
